Ms Scholastica Muange - Deputy AcademicsCurriculum implementation is overseen by the Deputy Principal – Academics, working closely with the Dean of Studies, Heads of Departments, and Heads of Subjects, who monitor learning activities at departmental and subject levels. Heads of Departments also coordinate subject-based co-curricular activities such as debate, drama, music, and other enrichment programmes.
Academics remain the core function of Hospital Hill High School. The school has put in place strong structures to monitor teaching and learning, with the aim of empowering every learner to unlock and achieve their full potential in a friendly, supportive, and motivating environment. Through close collaboration with the school community, programmes are implemented to provide quality educational services that inspire learners to realize their aspirations through self-discipline, commitment, and fairness, guided by excellence as the benchmark for performance.
Curriculum Implementation: Transition from 8-4-4 to CBE
The School is currently implementing a dual curriculum system as we transition from the 8-4-4 system to the Competency-Based Education (CBE) framework. At present, Forms 3 and 4 continue under the 8-4-4 curriculum, while preparations are complete for the admission of Grade 10 learners in January 2026 under CBE.
Under the 8-4-4 system, subjects offered are clustered as follows:
- Compulsory: Mathematics, English and Kiswahili
- Sciences: Physics, Chemistry and Biology
- Humanities: History, Geography, Christian Religious Education and Islamic Religious Education
- Technical and Applied Subjects: Business Studies, Computer Studies, Art and Design, Agriculture, French, Music and Home Science
With the roll out of CBE at the senior school level, the school name will change to Hospital Hill Senior School and will offer the three approved pathways:
- Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)
- Social Sciences
- Arts and Sports
These pathways are designed to support learner-centered education by nurturing talents, interests, competencies, and career pathways in line with national education goals.
The school has six streams per class, supported by a dedicated teaching staff of 45 teachers. The daily programme is structured to enhance academic achievement and holistic development. Morning preps runs from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m., followed by organized programmes from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. that promote learner well-being and spiritual nourishment. Lessons run from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., after which learners participate in planned co-curricular and talent development activities. Evening preps is conducted from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., allowing time for assignments and independent personal study.
Co-curricular Activities

The school has consistently performed exemplary, with learners reaching national levels, reinforcing our commitment to holistic education in the transition from 8-4-4 to Competency-Based Education.
