STUDENTS' LEADERSHIP - 2025

When I first walked through the gates of this school as a Form One student, I never imagined that one day I would wear the badge of a School Captain. Back then, I was shy, uncertain, and still figuring out who I wanted to become. But high school has a unique way of shaping us through challenges, friendships, and moments that test our character.

Becoming School Captain was not about being the best student or the loudest voice. It was about being willing to serve. Leadership, I learned, is not a title—it is an opportunity to lift others. From organizing morning assemblies to resolving student disputes, every day demanded patience, humility, and a clear sense of purpose.

The most rewarding part of my journey was working alongside prefects, teachers, and my fellow students. Together, we turned ideas into actions—from mentorship programs for juniors to community clean-ups and school debates.

To my teachers, thank you for believing in me even when I doubted myself.

To my peers, thank you for your cooperation and friendship—you made leadership worthwhile. And to the next generation of students, carry this school’s spirit of excellence with pride. Your time here will pass quickly, so make it count.

Leadership isn’t about perfection; it’s about progress. As I step out into the world, I carry with me the lessons learned here—resilience, empathy, integrity, and service. My hope is that each of you will find your own way to lead in whatever role you are given, because one day, you too will look back and realize that the leader you became was shaped right here.

Farewell Message from the School Captain – 2024
As I conclude my term as School Captain of 2024, I reflect with gratitude on a remarkable journey of leadership and growth at Hospital Hill High School. My leadership path began in Term 1 of 2022 as a Junior Dorm Prefect, then as Deputy School Captain in July 2022, and finally as School Captain in July 2023. The journey has been both challenging and rewarding, filled with lessons I will carry for life.

I sincerely thank my fellow captains for their dedication and teamwork, especially my Deputy, Cornelius Guyumba, and the rest of the leadership team—Lenny Kariuki (Academics), George Edward (DH), Charles Mugane (Sanitation), and the House Captains: Kelvin Kariuki (Kifaru), Ezra Anataka (Simba), Clinton Otieno “Commander” (Ndovu), and Jacob Munene (Nyati).

To my successor, Ian Mwenja, I advise you to embrace teamwork and respect for authority, as true leadership thrives on collaboration and humility.

I extend heartfelt appreciation to the school administration—Mr. Ken Bunyasi, Mr. Crispo Owino, and Ms. Scholastica Muange—for their support and guidance.

My term as School Captain has taught me resilience, empathy, and integrity. I leave with pride, knowing we’ve made a lasting impact together.

Prefects Team Building Trip

The prefects embarked on a team-building trip to Embu at Dunda Falls on Sunday, 24th March 2024. The event was meticulously planned to foster camaraderie and cohesion among the prefects, enhancing their leadership skills and teamwork abilities.

The day began with an invigorating Zumba dance session, setting a lively tone for the activities ahead.

Following this, the prefects embarked on a thrilling nature trail, immersing themselves in the beauty of the surroundings and forging bonds through shared experiences.

However, the trip's highlight undoubtedly lay in the heart-pounding experience of crossing the zip bridge. Suspended above the rushing waters below, the bridge offered a thrilling challenge for the prefects.

A palpable sense of adventure filled the air as they gingerly made their way across the swaying structure. Despite its appearance of instability, the bridge held firm under its weight, reinforcing the importance of trust and teamwork among the prefects

Notably, one of our accompanying teachers, Mr. Nyagol, epitomized courage by bravely taking on the wild swing challenge. His fearless act inspired the prefects, demonstrating the importance of embracing challenges and pushing beyond one's comfort zone.

Accompanying the prefects were esteemed school administration members, including the Deputy Principal, Mr Mutemi; Senior Teacher, Mr. Owino; Dean of Studies, Mr. Nyagol; and Madam Rebecca from IQASO. Their presence added guidance and support to the event, enriching the experience for all involved.

After a day filled with adventure and excitement, the prefects were treated to an auspicious lunch featuring delectable chicken, pilau, and chapatis, accompanied by refreshing sodas. The meal provided a well-deserved opportunity for relaxation and reflection on the day's activities.

Throughout the journey to Embu, which spanned approximately three hours, the prefects were captivated by the diverse terrain along the way, further enhancing their appreciation for the natural beauty of Kenya.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the school Principal for his unwavering support in organizing and facilitating this enriching experience for the prefects. His dedication to the holistic development of our students is truly commendable and greatly appreciated.

Overall, the prefects' team-building trip to Embu was a resounding success, fostering unity, resilience, and personal growth among the participants. We look forward to building upon this foundation and continuing to empower our prefects to lead with confidence and integrity.
