The Boarding Department is made up of two very important sections. The Accommodation and Catering section.
The department has a Senior Head of Department in charge; Mr. Crispo Owino assisted by Mr. Michael Ouma and Miss. Ruth Omache.
The accommodation section.
Hospital Hill High School is a full boarding boys’ school and 870 boys are accommodated in the school. There are two boarding hostels. One of the hostels referred to as the senior dormitory Houses Form 2’s, Form 3’s, and Form 4’s while the other known as the Junior dormitory houses Form ones, each having several housing units with washrooms and laundry area.
Thus, there are four houses in total which are identified by colours and house t/shirt; that is Red House, Blue House, Yellow House, and Green House
The dormitory comprises a total of 24 housing units. Each house has a housemaster/mistress in charge of the whole house assisted by other house teachers and house monitors.
Cleanliness is our priority, boys wash their dormitory on daily basis. The accommodation section is managed by four housemasters/ housemistresses that guide, counsel, and discipline the boys in their respective houses as follows;
Red House – Mr. Y. Munala, Green House – Mr. J. Njoga Yellow House – Mrs. S. Musembi, Blue House – Ms. Viola
There are many interactive sessions such as house meetings between the teachers and the boys to discuss various issues on student welfare in the hostel. The student’s medical needs are well taken care of. There is a nurse within the school but in cases that cannot be handled, the parents are either called to pick the child or if need be the boy can be rushed to the hospital and the parent is then informed by the school. This team together with the HODs works hand in hand to create that favorable environment prevails and the boys co-exist peacefully. They strive to provide a homely and learning environment for the students.
The catering section
In a school set-up, this is commonly known as the Dining Hall. This is the place where the students take all their meals and are, therefore, the central point of the department. It is managed by a qualified cateress Ms. Linet Khaemba, a very dedicated chef, and a team of highly motivated cooks.
The school has a well-planned menu that ensures a well-balanced diet is provided to all boys. We however do not provide a special diet. A high standard of cleanliness is always maintained.
The boarding department in general strives to provide a clean, safe, comfortable and conducive environment for the boys. The boys are trained to live as a family where mutual understanding and respect always prevail.
